8TH GRADE NEWS

Week of February 20th -25th

Art: Our quilt squares are close to being finished. They look awesome!

Social Studies 8: quiz on Amendments 11-27 on Tuesday; final test on all amendments on Friday. Monday we begin Chapter 19 in our texts.

Social Studies 7: quiz on 7:2 on Wednesday. Friday, review Chapter 7 and take Map test. Tuesday 2/28 - Test on Chapter 7.

Literature 8: Test on Night on Wednesday. Friday, finish videos and discuss visit to Holocaust Museum. Assign final project.

Vocabulary: Tuesday 2/21, Vocabulary test on Unit 10. Begin Unit 11. Work on Unit 11 due on Tuesday 2/28. Spelling test on Wednesday, 2/29. Vocabulary test on Thursday, 3/1.

English 8: Tuesday, Quiz on Transitive and Intransitive Verbs.

Good luck to Emylia, Brooke, and Michelle at the Music Contest! Next week: Field trip to the da Vinci exhibit on Monday, graduation pictures on Tuesday, and Science Carnival on Thursday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Week of February 13-17

Progress Reports sent on February 17th

Art: the designs for the quilt blocks are finished; we’ll start tracing onto the material on Monday. Hopefully we’ll begin painting on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Social Studies 8: Quiz on Amendments 1-10 on Tuesday. Quiz on amendments 11-27 next Tuesday; final test on Friday 2/24.

Social Studies 7: Test on China, Mongolia, and Taiwan on Tuesday. Quiz on 7:1 on Friday.

Literature 8: We are reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel. The test will be on Wednesday, 2/22. We will also be viewing Elie Wiesel returning to Auschwitz with Oprah Winfrey.

English 8: We are studying verbs, adverbs, and prepositions this week.

Vocabulary 8: work on Unit 10 is due on Thursday. The spelling test is Friday; the vocabulary test will be on Tuesday, 2/21.

Our trip to St. Louis Holocaust Museum and the Cathedral Basilica (New Cathedral) is on February 23rd. Permission slips will be sent home on Monday and are due on Friday 2/17. Parents are welcome to attend; please note on the permission slip.

A big thank you to student council members Ellen, Josh, Alyssa, Brooke, Wyatt, and Nathan for working the Speech Meet on Saturday. You were a big help!
